WHO: Smoking kills 5 million every year
World Health Organization New report on smoking - this is the most recent and I guess the data are carefully gathered and verified.
Facts:
5 million people tobacco smoking kill every year.
95 % of global population is unprotected by smoking ban laws.
600,000 people kill on secondhand smoking.
10% of world population is covered by any single measure (protecting people to smoke, ban on tobacco ads and tax raise on tobacco products.)
8 million people kill by 2030 - if developing countries don't take drastic action.
Smoking levels naturally drop off — as they have in Western countries — when populations become richer and better-educated.
